How To: Write a Strong Covering Letter That Will Stand Out

So yesterday I busted my ass off writing a few covering letters for some work experience that I'd like to do at some point in the near future and, not to be big-headed or anything, I was pretty damn impressed with myself! I googled a few tips and tricks beforehand before combining everything that I'd learnt into a few, good covering letters. I didn't find it hard at all to translate what I learnt into my own covering letter so I thought that I'd share my own tips and what I learned about writing a covering letter here on my blog so that you could apply them to your covering letter the same way that I did!

Mac Rubenesque Paint Pot

Today I wanted to speak about a product that I've rediscovered in a big way. My Rubenesque paint pot was my very first purchase from Mac, ever. I know what you're thinking - if it was my very first then surely it's way too old for me to own let alone use. Well, while I believe that it's best to stick to the recommended time of use for your makeup products, I don't think I've ever abided by those rules myself because, really, most of us don't have the money to be repurchasing the higher end stuff when it's past its recommended time of use. I mean, I wish I could do so but I don't have bad skin or anything so it's not too much of an issue. Anyway, little spontaneous rant aside, this cream eyeshadow is beautiful and I shouldn't have neglected it for as long as I did.

NYFW SS16 Makeup Roundup

New York Fashion Week SS16 has come to a close and today, London Fashion Week SS16 begins. While the whole purpose of the shows are showcasing next season fashions, hair and makeup also play a big part in each runway look. I was pleasantly surprised to see a very natural, fresh-faced trend in the makeup looks created for every show so I decided to round up the week by showcasing my favourite natural makeup looks fresh off the catwalk and showing you how to create your own similar makeup look!

First Impressions: Zoeva Brushes

So I apologise for the super late in the evening post but we've not had Internet today and my dad's had to come home and plug the laptop into one of those Internet boxes that you have to be plugged into in order to get Internet. Hello? It's 2015. Why is this happening. Anyway, I'm going to do a very short first impressions on the two Zoeva brushes that arrived on Saturday. They're my first Zoeva brushes and I finally had enough money to justify getting the two I've always wanted so I got them!

5 Ways to Style Topshop Joni Jeans

So today on the blog I'm going to be styling the ever-loved Joni jeans from Topshop. I have two pairs, one black and one blue, and I'll be using both to centre my outfits around.

Before I start, I need to apologise for the use of mirror selfies in this blog post. I take my blog photos with my iPhone (which I don't have a tripod for) and I find it extremely hard to take full outfit photos with my phone when I'm on my own with nobody to take a photo of me. I usually use my makeup brush holder as a makeshift tripod because it has a wavy design but that wasn't working for these photos because I needed to show the outfit in full and that just wasn't happening. This actually explains my lack of fashion, style and outfit posts. I can never take proper photos to be able to use for fashion posts, which is why there aren't many on my blog despite fashion probably being a bigger passion of mine than makeup and beauty. I don't want to buy a legit camera yet either since I'm just starting out my blog, and who has a spare few hundred quid to buy a proper DSLR camera? Not me. So for now we'll have to deal with the iPhone selfies and mirror selfies, and hope that I work something out for the future. Anyway, on with the outfits.

How To: Keep Your Hair Healthy (even when it's bleached, coloured or damaged)

So as you probably all know by now, my mum is a hairdresser. As a result of this, I've always self-admittedly been terrible (and snobby) in the hair department. I know nothing, I'm capable of nothing. However, I've been seeing some articles in magazines about haircare 'hacks' that I've always known but that are seemingly new revelations to people. I've also become great at washing my hair up to salon standards so I thought that I'd share my haircare hacks that will help your hair to grow long, stay healthy and look shiny, even if your hair is bleach, coloured or damaged like mine.

I met James Bay?

So a bit of a different post today. On Friday I had a lovely day in London, I went to meet James Bay and finished up the last of my back-to-school shopping on Oxford Street. I took some photos along the way so I thought that I'd share them with you all and have a little chat about my day! Most of these photos don't fit with the whole blog aesthetic and this post is going to be quite ramble-y so let's call this a 'day in the life' style post and get on with it!

Instagram Roundup

Since it's now September, I wanted to do an Instagram roundup to show you all of my posts throughout the last month, with a couple from this month too. I ended up changing my Instagram 'theme' in August unintentionally because I started instagramming photos from my blog posts and the photos are predominantly white. I'm not too sure with how I feel about it yet but I'm going to roll with it for now. I do prefer my old very bright and high contrast theme because it meant I could post a photo of any colour and because I prefer how it looked. The white theme is so sleek and pretty though, so I'm undecided on whether to keep it going from now on or to go back to my old theme, #firstworldproblems.
