August Beauty Favourites

So since we have now reached the final day of August -and Summer!- I thought I'd share my favourite beauty products of the month. Since it's been Summer, although the weather hasn't been very summery in the slightest, I've enjoyed letting my skin breathe but when I wore makeup, these were my favourite products to put on my face. I've started to embrace a more natural makeup look this month on the days that I've actually worn any makeup, not wearing any eye makeup aside from mascara most of the time and cutting down some of the face makeup that I usually wear. Most of these products have already been mentioned on my blog but I didn't invest in any new makeup this month (apart from the Strobe Cream which was featured in a blog post anyway) because I wasn't wearing much of it anyway.

The Pussybow Blouse

Blouse - H&M
Disco Pants - American Apparel
Hat - H&M
Rings - Pandora & River Island

The pussybow blouse is back for AW15. It's been declared by British Vogue and it's been seen on a lot of the AW15 catwalks, though usually in more fancy variations than my blouse. Either way, it's a staple in your Autumn Winter wardrobe and if you don't have one, you need one.

Pussybow blouses may remind you of something more old-fashioned that would suit your great-Grandma better than it would suit you but the beautiful variations of them seen on the catwalks have sparked inspiration for new ways to wear and style them, making them a modern style staple and giving them a whole new reputation in the fashion world. Although I bought mine last Autumn as a homage to fashions best, Blair Waldorf, I'm now being inspired to style mine differently instead of sticking to pairing it with black skirts for a schoolgirl look. I'm definitely going to be wearing mine a lot more during the coming Autumn and Winter months now that I've found new ways to wear it.

What's your opinion on the pussybow blouse? Are you going to incorporate it into your Autumn Winter wardrobe?

My MAC Lipstick Collection

[swatches L to R - honeylove, hue, brave, rebel]

MAC lipsticks are probably the most iconic, coveted lipsticks out there. They have earned their reputation through their amazing quality, pigmentation, sleek packaging and wide range of shades to suit all styles and skin tones. While having a grand total of four (technically I have five or six but it's just multiple old lipsticks in the same shade) MAC lipsticks may not seem like a huge, great collection, it's still a collection nonetheless so I've decided to blog the four shades that I have and give you all my take on the much-loved MAC lipsticks.

Post Results Day

So a short and sweet post today (by that I mean a little ramble of a post that's only about a paragraph long). I needed to do my post results day blog post since I'd originally written one about the lead up to results day (little plug there). Results day went a lot better than expected and overall I'm very pleased with my results. I'm not going to post them here because there's something that feels inappropriate and braggy about doing so, although I tweeted my results so you can see them on my Twitter if you're interested (another plug). It was all such a whirlwind even though I stuck around for an hour and a half so I could see people and some teachers. Once it was over and I was back home on Thursday, I felt empty. I'm not going to the sixth form at my school so I'm never going to have a reason to go back there and weirdly, that makes me really sad. Throughout Summer I had comfort in knowing that I'd still go back one more time for results but now it's over and that kind of breaks my heart a little.
I mentioned in my lead up post how nervous I was for no apparent reason and on the day I refused to go in to collect my envelope for about twenty minutes because I was so nervous. I also mentioned how music was the only subject I couldn't pass without any revision and I was definitely right because I got the exact grade boundary for a C overall, if I had dropped one mark I would've failed it. Grade wise, there were two subjects where I wished I got one grade above instead of what I actually got, and I found out that I had been 2 and 4 marks away from the next grade up in each of those two subjects which was annoying but I'm not going to the trouble of getting them remarked because I don't really mind and it costs about £35. I am considering getting each of my maths papers back to look at because they're about £7 each and maths was the only subject in my grading breakdown that didn't have the marks with it. Maths was also the subject I worked so hard to achieve an A in (I did it!) and I shed several tears over it as well as spending every moment at school revising maths even when I had three exams in one day, so I want to know exactly how I did out of curiosity because I put the most effort into it. I'm not quite sure how it would work but I'm considering it! Also, as a results present, I was given a gorgeous Pandora ring that's pictured above.

A normal, longer post will be up on Wednesday as usual. I hope you all got the results that you wanted too!

How I Got Pink Hair - Bleach London Rosé Review & Tutorial

So I (once again) have pink hair! It's only temporary, of course, and I achieved it using the popular Bleach London 'Super Cool Colour' in Rosé. I actually used this at the end of last month to go pink the first time but it faded very quickly so I'd planned to try it again for results day. I've decided to turn it into a blog post and review the product as well as give you a step by step tutorial in how to use it to achieve this look!

5 Reasons You Should Buy That Concert Ticket

[photos are my own from the script at croke park and george ezra at o2 academy brixton]

Stop contemplating it, stop worrying about it being too expensive. Sure, buying a concert ticket could mean that you can't afford to splurge on that £50 face cream until your next payday but once you're there, you'll realise just how worth it your ticket purchase was.

I know that a lot of my blog readers are just my Twitter followers which means that the one thing you probably have in common with me is music. I'm a massive music person, I love going to gigs and I'm one of those people who is in a band's fanbase (and I'm guessing majority of my readers are the other people in that same fanbase). This is why I felt like talking about music on my blog today. It's something I've always been passionate about and it's something that I know you all love just as much as I do. One of the best things about music is the concerts. Gigs and concerts are amazing because you get to hear the music, see the artist, take in the staging and production, and be in a room with thousands of other people who share the same musical interests as you. Still not convinced? Here's why should buy that concert ticket.

How To: Get a Glowy Skin Complexion

I don't know about you but I'm all about having that dewy, glowy, radiant skin as opposed to the matte look and since it's Summer (which I find hard to believe with all the rainy storms we've been having) the glowy look has become even more desirable because it's season appropriate, although I'll definitely still be slaying the glowy look in the Winter months. The glowy, highlighted look always looks effortless on the skin, giving you an 'I woke up like this' appearance when you've actually used a lot of product on your face and you've definitely not woken up like that. Nobody needs to know your secret though.
The problem with trying to get glowy skin is that you can either end up looking sweaty and damp, or you can look youthful and radiant so you have to get it right to get the proper look. I'm going to talk you through the products that I use to ensure that I get a glowy skin complexion, including the perfect highlight, so that you can achieve the look too!

'Fuckboys' & How to Avoid Them

PLAYSUIT: MISSGUIDED

So today I'm going to talk about something a bit fun and lighthearted instead of fashion or beauty. I say fun and lighthearted but this is something that, despite being a funny and popular concept at the moment in social media, can be a genuine problem when the wrong people are involved and people get hurt. (Also props to me for venturing outside of my comfort zone and taking my first ever outfit photos for this blog - not even used for an outfit post though)

You've probably seen the word 'fuckboy' used on every girly / sassy / girl things / relatable / nutella Twitter account known to man but just what is a fuckboy? What makes someone a fuckboy? And how can you avoid a fuckboy? Well, I'm going to give you the foolproof guide in how to identify, spot and avoid a fuckboy. Since some people that I know and am close to have personally encountered a fuckboy, I want to make sure that what happened to them won't happen to anybody else. Plus when they were each going through it I was frantically googling various things along the lines of 'what do I do if my friend is being played by a guy?' So if you are in the position that I was in, look no further than here because girl, I feel you.

Products That Are Worth the Hype

So many makeup products these days are overhyped and you buy them expecting good things because of the hype, only to be let down by the sad reality that the product actually has nothing going for it aside from the hype that surrounds it. This might put you off of buying products that are so hyped up because you won't trust their reputation but then you may be missing out on trying a genuinely good product that'll work wonders for you. To make sure that you don't miss out on the hyped up products that are genuinely good, I'm going to talk you through three things that are pretty much iconic in the beauty world and are actually worth all of the praise that they get.

Lush King of Skin

Today I'm going to do a kind of first impressions / review on a product that I recently bought upon recommendation from one of my friends. Lush's King of Skin is a body butter in a massage bar form that you rub onto your wet skin in the bath or shower and then rinse off, and it's use means that you don't need to moisturise once you're out of the bath or shower.

A Lazy Girl's Guide to Skincare

Today on my blog I'm going to be talking skincare! Skincare is something that, admittedly, I'm extremely lazy with. I find it a chore to cleanse my face or to take my makeup off so today I wanted to share with you all my favourite skincare products that make life a whole lot easier for someone who is lazy with their skincare like myself.

The Lead Up to Results Day

I wanted to do a pre results day post because tomorrow is a week until A Level results and two weeks until GCSE results. Since it's my GCSE results day and I obviously would never have been at a school for results day before, I have no idea what to expect, which is a given, but I didn't even know that we had to go inside the school building on results day which is just common sense, so if I didn't expect that I'd need to go inside then my perception of results day is definitely the wrong one. Aside from my expectations of the day, there's the obvious nerves to discover my grades that everybody in the country awaiting their results shares with me. I am absolutely freaking out about my results which will probably irritate anyone who knows me because I'm one of those annoying people who can get decent grades and at least pass everything (except for music) without any revision. I'm not freaking out because I assume I've done badly though. In fact, I couldn't tell you why I'm freaking out, I just am. I'm sure a lot of people share this feeling with me though. During the exams I was actually absolutely fine, I felt like every exam went well enough and I wasn't worried about my results at all, I was only curious to find out what grades I got. Right now though, it's a completely different story. A little under two weeks ago, it hit me that results day was near and looming, and that's when I started to freak out. I'm scared, I'm genuinely fearful for what grades I could've got and I have absolutely no reason to be. I don't even know what the purpose of this post is but I needed to vent about the fear during the lead up to results day, and if anyone feels the same way then that's a bonus because it means we aren't alone. I also thought it would be quite fun to to a post before results day about what I expect from it, and a post afterwards to reflect on this one and compare my expectations to what actually happened and what grades I actually got.

Now that I've had my little vent, how is everyone else feeling about the lead up to results day? Are you in the same boat as me or do you feel a lot more calm and collected about it?

August Wishlist

Since August is now upon us, I now have my last month of freedom before I start college next month. This month my aim is to buy clothes that I can wear to college since I'll no longer need to wear a uniform and I want to avoid the scenario where I sit on the floor in front of my wardrobe, staring inside it while wearing my pyjamas and deciding what to wear. First of all, this scenario will be avoided anyway because I'm getting rid of my wardrobe but more to the point, this scenario will be avoided because I want to buy good items of clothing that can be worn in many different ways and won't go out of style. I've decided to showcase two items each from four different retailers that I'm planning to buy so that I can wear them to college. The key theme here is comfort, I want the majority of my clothes to be comfy so that I can throw them on and make my way to college on those cold, dark Autumn / Winter mornings that will soon be upon us in a matter of months.
